Clearing a Path for Suicide Prevention
On a steamy Saturday
morning on August 21st, volunteers collected trash along a 2 mile
stretch of Route 100 in Flagler Beach,
Flagler County, Florida. Our
purpose was two-fold:
·
To clean up the county roadway
·
To educate people about suicide
prevention and other mental disorders that disable so many.
The road crew collected
a diversified trash array; fast food containers, beer and soda cans and
bottles, paper, plastic, Styrofoam packing, construction debris, but also
some special treasures – turtle shells, hawk feathers, and wonderful
shells.
Out plea to the public:
deposit trash in the proper places, or take it back home with you for your
trash!
In our plight to educate
people about suicide prevention we direct you to the coalition’s website:
www.suicideprevention-volusiaflagler.org , or call Terry Smith at
446-4690. Terry and Valerie lost their beautiful Stephanie at 21 to suicide
3 years ago, and their mission is to reach as many as possible.
